          Student success statement

“we need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn’t do’’

Richard l. Evans

I think this means that we have to be brave to do the right things. You also have to be brave by not doing the wrong things to make you a better person.you have to also be strong by not choosing the wrong.

Student Responsibilities part 3

           Student Responsibilities

                     Part 3

What is important to you is that you, as you start to reach milestones in your ambitions, you appreciate your own achievements. It is a boost, of course, if others appreciate what you have done too, but appreciating yourself will strengthen your self-belief, and reinforce your determination to succeed. Some of the keys characteristics you will find in those who are successful are perseverance, prepared to research, plan and work hard, practice a lot even when things do not seem to be going well, and an ability to recover and learn from setbacks. At the outset of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in, a strong vision of your future, planning, and setting yourself achievable targets can all play an important role. If you feel you do not naturally have all those characteristics, then do not despair. Each of them can be accomplished by your own application. You can use meditation and visualization techniques to initiate your vision, and they can certainly be learnt both for that purpose and for each step you take to reach your goals. Settings goals and objectives can be a personal or business technique that can be learnt. You can develop inner strength to succeed if you apply yourself to doing just that; that will enable you to recover from setbacks more easily. Students: There are your responsibilities!

“The Importance of Good Sportsmanship.”

“The Importance of Good Sportsmanship.”

Good sportsmanship is extremely important it gives you different opportunities like:

· Winning a game fair and square

· You become a trusted player

· It gives you respect

If you make a mistake it is okay because you were taught well and you have good skills to be a good sports man. The importance of good sportsmanship is to teach a player that whether you win or lose it was just a game and you still have the ability to go to the other team mates and shake their hands out of respect and to show that you have no grudges.

Good sportsmanship also shows that you follow the rules for example:

· Don’t cheat in a game

· Don’t take any illegal drugs before a game.

If you do right then you know that you have all the right qualities to becoming a good person and a good sportsman so we always have to choose the right and we will be successful in every single thing that we do.

“Education is the key to unlock the golden door to freedom”

George Washington Carver

This statement is extremely true. Education opens different doors of opportunity. If you choose the right door it will lead you to the correct path. An education gives you opportunities that people who don’t have an education won’t have. If you get an education then you learn different things that are helpful in life and that will lead you to a great success. So we have to keep in mind to always

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.

-Theodore Hesburgh

The statement today is very truthful just like the others. You don’t make decisions because of their qualities; you make decisions because that is what benefits you. You could make a decision because it is popular and it might harm you. The decisions you make have to help you out in your future. This statement just goes on to say to always,

Decisions Determine Destiny”

Thomas S. Monson

This statement has an extreme truth to it. Whatever decision we decide right now will follow us to the future whether the decision was good or bad. We do decisions like whether what time we get up in the morning or if we are going to college or not and even what type of food we will eat. If we don’t get up in the morning we might lose an opportunity that might help us in the future. If we decide to not go to college we will end up in a bad job when we grow up but if we do decide to go to college then we have a bright future ahead of us. Every decision has an important impact in our lives so we will always tend to CHOOSE THE RIGHT so that we could have an extremely good destiny ahead of us.

Successful Students Part 1

Successful Students

Part 1
4. Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in the respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals- in short, and you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on your same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither chooses to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!!
5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their leaning entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their education dollars.

1.          Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it!

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class

Characteristics of a Successful Student

Characteristics of a Successful Student

http://academic.cuesta.edu/acasupp/as/201.HTM

Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begin and ends.

Most instructors know what a good student is – and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in the class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list is a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea is to prove you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.

1. Successful students attend to class regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and reasonable. They make sure they get all missed assignments (by contacting their instructor or another student), and understand specifically what was covered in class. Successful students take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

“Right is right even if everyone is against it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it.”

William Penn

This statement is true. This is when your true colors come out. If you choose the right then you can see that you are a good person and people can trust you. This shows that you make good choices in life and that you are on the right track. If you choose the wrong then you can see that you are just a bad person and that you dint make the best choices in life. This shows that you are not trust worthy. One thing to keep in mind is to always,

44. They don’t rationalize failure. While many are talking about their age, their sore back, their lack of time, their poor genetics, their ‘bad luck’, their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way to succeed despite all their challenges.

45. They have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in their life and to have fun,

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.

47. They are more interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority look for the quickest, easiest way (the short cut), they look for the course of action which will produce the best result over the long term.

summary & reflection of a baseball game

Summary

Being in the baseball game Ian was able to get a souvenir baseball but little Nicholas was crying because he did not receive it. Ian noticed that Nicholas was crying and he went back to him and gave him the baseball. Ian chose the right and he got rewarded. He made Nicholas happy and he lost the ball but received a better gift that made him happy. Ian got an autographed baseball bat by his favorite player and four tickets to another game.

Reflection: Ian taught us that doing the right does not hurt you and it rewards you in an even better way. It also encourages you because you encouraged other people. If anything from this boy I learned that happiness to other people also makes you happy. So we have to keep in mind to always,

“You are accountable for YOUR choices”

Thomas S. Monson

What we think this statement means is that we are the ones that are responsible for whatever we choose. Our actions belong to us and no one else. It is our responsibility to know when we choose the wrong or when we did well and chose the right.

(Habits 21-30)

21. They don’t believe in, or wait for fate, destiny, chance or luck to determine or shape their future. They believe in, and are committed to actively and consciously creating their own best life.

22. While many people are reactive, they are proactive. They take action before they have to.

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions. They feel like we all do but they are not slaves to their emotions.

24. They are good communicators and they consciously work at it.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically at turning that plan into a reality. Their life is not a clumsy series of unplanned events and outcomes.

26. Their desire to be exceptional means that they typically do things that most won’t. They become exceptional by choice. We’re all faced with life-shaping decisions almost daily. Successful people make the decisions that most won’t and don’t.

27. While many people are pleasure junkies and avoid pain and discomfort at all costs, successful people understand the value and benefits of working the tough stuff that most would avoid.

28. They have identified their core values (what is important to them) and they do what is best for them to live a life which is reflective of those values.

29. They have balance. While they may be financially successful, they know that the terms money and success are not interchangeable. They understand that people, who are successful on a financial level only, are not successful at all. Unfortunately we live in a society which teaches that money equals success. Like many other things, money is a tool. It’s certainly not a bad thing but ultimately; it’s just another resource. Unfortunately, too many people worship it.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control. They are strong. They are happy to take the road less traveled.

“Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly”
Otto Graham Jr.
This statement is very helpful when you are in a situation and you don’t know what to choose. You first have to think if it is a right decision or a wrong decision. Is this decision going to do bad or good? You always have to think about the consequences of your decision making. An example is like when your friends are pressuring you to do something like ditch school and you don’t want to do it. You know it is wrong so you don’t do it and you act accordingly to what you known is right which is staying in school. You stay in school and
